Track 3 of 5 from The Motion Below's debut EP, "Reform/Converge".
lyrics
Float back, through your memories.
Float back, to a simpler time, where good intentions flowed like wine.
Deep and red, we always said that we'd keep each others minds from breaking.
But I'm shaking, from the caffeine and the stress.
It's 4AM, everyone's in bed, and I'm staring at a screen with awful thoughts in my head.
Three hours past the last message received, I can feel my hair fall out as I pray silently for relief.
My head hits the desk, and I'm awoken scared.
I check replies again, but nothing new's been sent.
“Just let me go.” Words straight from the mouth of a suffering youth.
What can I do, but offer comfort and a quiet plea?
Well, three years on and your spark is gone. There's nothing left, nothing left here for me.
Oh, how I can see, how your patience wained, as the daylight fades away,
Oh, how I wish I'd made the connection,
Dejection is a plague that clings to your fate, like a moth to a flame.
Float back, and you'll see.
You'll see pain shared, and you'll see bodies bared in the name of discontent, covetous.
My conscience prevents me from wishing we had never met, but I'm scornful and indignant for all the wasted years I've spent. So etch yourself a tombstone while you burn every bridge you've built with malice.
Some things never change, and you will always be a destitute and angry soul.
